Commitment to Environmental Excellence

The Green Key Certification reflects ibis India’s adherence to rigorous environmental standards, covering areas such as:

  • Responsible waste management

  • Water conservation and reuse

  • Energy efficiency initiatives

  • Reduction of single-use plastics

Many ibis hotels have introduced on-site water bottling plants, energy-saving fixtures, and water recycling systems that treat and reuse sewage-treated water for landscaping and flushing. These measures collectively help lower carbon emissions and minimize environmental impact.

Being awarded Green Key Certification at multiple ibis locations across India is a proud achievement for our teams,” said Tejus Jose, Director of Operations, ibis & ibis Styles India.
“Sustainability is not a one-time goal but an ongoing journey. At ibis, we are focused on reducing our environmental footprint while creating positive social impact through community engagement and awareness. Our aim is to have every ibis hotel in India certified in the near future.”

Engaging Guests and Teams in Sustainability

Beyond infrastructure and operations, ibis India actively involves staff and guests in its sustainability initiatives. Through in-room information, awareness training, and eco-friendly signage, the brand encourages responsible behaviour and fosters a culture of sustainability across its hotels.

These initiatives not only contribute to environmental protection but also enhance operational efficiency and improve the guest experience.

Continuous Improvement and Future Goals

The Green Key Certification, valid for one year, includes regular audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. ibis India’s future sustainability goals include:

  • Expanding the use of renewable energy sources

  • Further reducing water consumption

  • Completely eliminating single-use plastics across all hotels
